7 By getting to know you and your medication profile, your pharmacist can:
Warn you of possible harmful drug interactions or allergies. Tell you about potential side effects. Advise you on foods, beverages, or activities to avoid while taking a certain medication, or on what to do if you miss a dose. A Pharmacist is a medication expert, checking each prescription to help ensure that: The information provided by the prescriber is complete. If there is any query regarding a prescription, the pharmacist contacts the doctor to verify it. The medication and dosage are safe with any medical conditions that they are aware you may have. The new medication will not interact with anything else they know you are taking. “National Pharmacy Week 2011” Indian Pharmaceutical Association Some medicines are to be taken on an empty stomach for better effects, while others have to be taken with or after food. Some medications are to be taken in between two meals. You should avoid taking some medicines with mild, certain fiber- rich food etc. Ask your Pharmacist for instructions regarding storage & how medicines to be taken!
