Facts By 2025, almost all labour force growth in Canada will be attributed to immigration. As International demand for new workers grows, Canada’s methods for finding and hiring internationally trained workers must improve. In the Trade Industry, some companies already faced with growing demand have begun to develop their own programs and policies. Companies, regardless of sector, must be more proactive in using available sources for finding and hiring internationally trained workers.

Recruitment and selection process is tedious and expensive. Assessment of skills, competencies and work experiences Language barriers Internationally Trained Workers Getting skills, competencies and experience recognized by employers and others Integrating into the workplace and finding the right “fit” with an employer Discrimination

Best Practices Providing information and reaching out to potential recruits. Assessing international qualifications. Participating in bridge-to-work, mentoring and career development. Getting involved in language and job or skills training. Implementing diversity and integration programs. Addressing perceived barriers.
