Duration: April 4 – 14, 2016 Introduction to the project
Teams are formed (groups of 2-3 students) Watch an episode of “Shark Tank” so you can get a feel for your project/presentation and how it should be pitched. Get together in groups to begin working on an idea to be presented to the Sharks.

Groups should work on… Brainstorming their ideas for the Shark Tank project. Groups will select one of the following options: Invent a product to sell Create a service business Raise money for a good cause such as: Helping earthquake victims in Haiti Adopt a sea turtle Cancer research

Groups should work on… Groups need to decide on their idea for a product, service business or charity fundraising. Expectations for group work One student creates an advertisement One student creates a conceptual or physical model One student prepares the background knowledge and purpose for the Phase 2 presentation.

Assignment You will be creating a product and a business proposal as if you were planning to pitch your idea to the entrepreneurs on the TV show, Shark Tank. As you create your project, think about the episodes of Shark Tank we’ve watched in class. What products did the sharks invest in? Why? What products did the sharks reject?

Create a unique product idea Develop a business plan What is your company called? What is your product called? Slogan? Owners names Detailed plan of product/service Business logo

Who are your target consumers? Who is your competition, and why are you better? How much would you sell it for? (Would people pay this price? How many buyers do you estimate?) be sure this is REALISTIC Come up with a creative way to pitch your idea to the sharks (example: commercial/PPT)

Grading – Total 60 pts Product (20 points) Presentation (30 points)
Unique and creative Sellable Presentation (30 points) Knowledgeable of product Poised/confident demeanor Engaging presentation/creative Persuasive The Sharks’ Scores (10 points) This score is based on whether or not the sharks wanted to invest in your product

Presentations Presentations begin Tuesday, April 12th and end April 14th, All presentations/products MUST be presented during these two days. The day of your presentation, you must bring your Business Plan (a copy for the teacher and each of the Sharks).
