17 Introduction Grammar: Society Grammar: Learning Grammar: Employability Grammar: Culture To get a good grade in your Higher German, you are expected to have an understanding of German grammar, particularly verbs and word order. You should also use complex language, in particular sub-clauses and adjectives before nouns. To help you, SCHOLAR has provided a number of explanations and exercises throughout the ourse to let you develop your skills and knowledge in the area of Using Language. These are spread across the four contexts. The grammar guide lets you see where these exercises are, to help you work on a particular area you feel you need to improve in. A few of the exercises are based on texts from the four contexts, but most do not need the source texts. You will also find a few exercises called 'vocabulary', where the way of using expressions is different in German, to help you express yourself well in German. Many of the exercises in the context of Culture are a review and revision of the basics, to let you see where you are and what you need to work on.

18 Preparation for assessments
