3 What is Faith ? “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Heb. 11:1 Substance Ground, basis, support ASV = “assurance” Of things hoped for Romans 10:17 NKJV “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Evidence Proof ASV = “conviction” Of things not seen

7 Must confess Christ to Be saved
Deut. 30:14 Romans 10:8-10 8. But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 1 Cor. 15:3-4

Matt. 16:13-16 13. When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14. And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. 15. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16. And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

“Thou art the Christ” - the Messiah - Hebrew for anointed - anointed of God as the Redeemer “The Son of the living God.” - Jews did not expect him to be the Son of God - Nathaniel was first John 1:49 “Rabbi, thou art the Son of God.” Jesus promised to build His church on this Truth Mt.16:18

Acts 8:37 is an example of the confession “And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” Philip preached “Jesus” Faith, Repentance, Confession, Baptism Requested baptism Made this confession

Confession is not: - Dream or some experience - Personal testimony - “God for Christ’s sake has pardoned my sins”

12 Must confess Christ to Be saved
Matt. 10:32-33 32. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.”

John 12:42,43 42. Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: 43. For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

The Evidence For Truth About the Confession God God confessed that Jesus was His Son 1. At his baptism - Mat. 3:17 2. At his transfiguration – Matt. 17:5 “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him”

24 When is the Confession to be made?
Acts 8:37 After Philip explained Isaiah 53 Produced belief - repented of former life Requested to be baptized Mark 16:16 “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.” Confession precedes baptism Confession follows faith Confession follows repentance

25 When is the Confession to be made?
Romans 10:10 “For it is with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Confession means we accept Jesus as Lord.

26 Confession With the mouth to become a Christian
Continual daily confession by the life we live. “Ye are the Light of the world” Matt. 5:14 “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” Confession is not limited to the lips; it includes our life.

27 And be baptized for the Remission of your sins?
Are You Willing To Confess Him ? And be baptized for the Remission of your sins?
