.Matthew 6:5-6 5 “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

Prayer is not about talented speech or public display Prayer is about God and you

Praying for Praise This is better called “The Model Prayer” rather than “The Lord’s Prayer” Principal #1: Prayer starts not with a list but seating God as he is God is all-powerful and this boosts our faith to request the things from him Begin with God’s greatness and Scriptures that speak of his character and attributes

Principal #2: Pray God’s Position Our Father talks about God’s desire to provide and protect us God is on our side In Heaven reminds us of his position of power and authority We join God’s story rather than being the star of our prayer Praying our position in God’s plan Aligning ourselves with God’s agenda

Principal #4: Pray for God’s guidance The word for temptation God leads us by going before us and ordering our steps All trials are not evil and God can use them to strengthen our faith and character
