1 CONDUCTING WORK WITH GRINDING MACHINE
Basic competence : Operating grinding machine

2 Explaining How to Set Machine
Grinding Flatten Surface Basic competence Explaining How to Set Machine After studying this basic competence, students are expected to be able to conduct grinding flatten surface

3 Grinding Flatten Surface
Type of surface grinding machines used consists of four. They are: Axis of Horizontal uses millstone. Desk movement back and forth, cross and downward feeding by millstone Axis of Horizontal by using rotary table Vertical axis uses special millstone. Desk movement is equal to horizontal machine Vertical axis uses rotary table

4 Millstone feeding spindle Constrictor of machine desk step
Hydraulic system Spindle controlling up and down motion of machine desk Spindle controlling right-left motion of machine desk Lever controlling machine desk Control panel Desk Machine Main Head ( Taufiq Rochim : 1993)

5 The Process of Grinding
Choice of Millstone Physical work object Many materials must be grinded and needed the final result Bow touch grinding Hardness of millstone Spinning Speed of millstone Bow touch little Bow touch large ( Taufiq Rochim : 1993)

6 Grinder Electric Switch
Operating the Surface Grinding Machine Main switch this function of main switch is to connect electric current of electrics fish-nets with machine Grinder Electric Switch ( Taufiq Rochim : 1993)

7 The direction of desk movement.
The main movement of the surface grinding machine a) Spinning motion of millstone b) Desk Movement vertical and horizontal c) Feeding movement The direction of desk movement. ( Taufiq Rochim : 1993)

8 L = l + (2.15) mm Where: L = the length of long motion ( mm)
l = the length work object ( mm) = the distance of millstone edge from work object edge ( mm ) Long step ( Taufiq Rochim : 1993)

9 The length of cross step
c = A + ( 4 / 3 . b)mm Where: c = the length of cross motion ( mm) A = the width of work object ( mm) b = the thick of millstone ( mm ) The length of cross step ( Taufiq Rochim : 1993)

10 Where: l = the length of work object ( mm) L = the length of grinding ( mm) i = the number of feeding v = speed of desk motion ( m / minute) b = the thick of work object ( mm) B = the thick of grinding / B = b ( mm) s = feeding from other side ( mm / step Grinding circle ( Taufiq Rochim : 1993)

11 Surface Grinding theoretically have machine time
which is quicker to be compared to grinding circle Surface grinding. ( Taufiq Rochim : 1993)

12 For the grinding of flimsy materials using magnet desk
( Taufiq Rochim : 1993)

13 SURFACE GRINDING (VIDEO)

14 SURFACE GRINDING (VIDEO)

15 Formative Test Mention the types of grinding surface used!
Explain main Movement of surface grinding! Mention parts of surface grinding! An iron box has 750 mm in length to be grinded by 4th feeding. Speed of desk motion is 2 m / minute. Count the grinding time! An iron box, length 190 mm and width 150 mm which will be grinded. with number of feeding is 4 times, the width of millstone is 20 mm, feeding aside 6 mm / step, speed of motion desk is 2 m / minute. Calculate grinding time!

16 Resume 1. Some types of surface grinding machine
2. Choice of millstone matching with materials type 3. Main switch represent link of electric current 4. main movement of surface grinding machine 5. grinding surface and circle

17 BIBLIOGRAPHY Taufiq Rochim, (1993). Teori & Teknologi Proses Pemesinan. Bandung: Proyek HEDS. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, 2007, Basic Machining and Fitting.
