1 DMCC update, 26/01/2016. APAN Manila 2016

2 outline Objectives and contribution Firewatch movement

3 Objectives for DMCC Provide the tsunami wave propagation simulation web portal to the public (user community and training) Release prototype of WRF-based weather simulation web portal (user community and training) Support for the User community Earthquake and Tsunami Typhoon, Storm Surge and Extreme Weather

4 ROLES AND CONTRIBUTIONS
User Community User Support & Training (1 PM) Earthquake & Tsunami (1 PM) Typhoon, Storm Surge and Extreme Weather (1 PM) Some other University interested in contributing the DMCC

5 Ministry of Forestry, Indonesia
FireWatch Indonesia Building Fire Monitoring Infrastructure and Capacity for the Indonesian Government to Monitor and Manage Forest Fires Israr Ministry of Forestry, Indonesia

6 FireWatch Indonesia Partners: Indonesia’s Agency for Space and Aeoronautics (LAPAN), Ministry of Forestry, Bandung Institut of Technology (ITB), Bina Nusantara University, Ministry of National Education and Ministry of Environment, with Landgate Western Australia. Delivering: Automatic processing of real-time satellite imagery Hardware, software and communication installation High speed access to satellite imagery products for fire management Multiple levels of redundancy Partnerships between government agencies

7 Technical problems Fire Monitoring : MODIS from Satellite Receiver Station (South Sulawesi and West Java) to LAPAN or Min of Forestry for processing – 6 GB/day It is difficult to deliver the data via Internet due to limited bandwidth access in Indonesia Solution : Using INHERENT and TEIN3 Network to deliver high quality MODIS data near real time. 100 Mbytes could deliver less than 2 minutes (from West Java to LAPAN or regional Ministry Forestry office at Provincial Level
