Definition A method of writing or displaying numbers in terms of a decimal number between 1 and 10, multiplied by a power of 10.

Expanded Form To expand numbers in scientific notation:
* move the decimal to the right if the exponent is positive * move the decimal to the left if the exponent is negative

Reverse.. To write numbers in scientific notation, put 1 nonzero number in front of the decimal point and count how many times you moved the decimal point. Big numbers have positive exponents Small decimals have negative exponents

To multiply scientific notation numbers, multiply the decimals in front first. Then, keep the 10 and add the exponents. Lastly, put the number back in scientific notation.
