Learning Outcomes As a result of regularly attending (14 visits per semester) students will perform between a mean final course grade up from 2.61 as evidence by a grade comparison. As a result of attending tutoring students will be more likely to collaborate with other students as demonstrated by a collaboration assessment. As a result of attending tutoring students will be more productive academically as measured by an academic productivity assessment.

7 Study Habits Project Context Materials Output
Tutors are given the context of analyzing study habits at their institution. The purpose is to challenge whether study habits on their campus match up with the new research they have been exposed to on learning and memory. Materials A survey software (Google Forms, Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey) Mandatory survey questions Microsoft office Output Paper about survey results Presentation about survey results Infographic about survey results

8 Learning how to learn Project
Context Tutors in the room watch a lecture on introduction to computer coding and take on their natural disposition in class. They learn things from the print function to loops. Tutors inexperienced with coding are asked to do further “studying.” The tutors are split and a podcast is facilitated. Materials Intro to coding video Paper and writing utensil One laptop or device per group Cell phone(s) with recording/podcasting app Output Podcast

9 Appreciating Customer service Project
Content Tutors are given the opportunity to share both good and bad scenarios they have encountered both outside and within Fresno State. With this being done, tutors are able to notice that we as human beings remember the bad experiences more then the good. The purpose of this portion is to challenge tutors to promote and advocate outstanding customer service in order to represent Fresno State Learning Center in a friendly and approachable manner. Materials Poster Boards or Thank You Cards Markers or Pens Output Reflect on who the tutors sent their thank you note to and why they chose to thank them Establish ground rules for providing exceptional customer service to students they may form a rapport with

11 Tutoring Practical Project
Content This portion focuses on the most effective ways to tutor focusing on the concept of Active Learning. The goal is to learn a concept or a topic that you do not have prior background knowledge on and be able to grasp the material well enough to provide a tutoring session to students who also don’t understand the material. This project allows the tutor to think quickly on their feet and manage a large group of students while in the role play setting. Materials Laptop, Tablets, Phone Khan Academy, YouTube, How to Videos Study Guides, Practice Problems, Worksheets Quizlets Course Textbooks, Lab Manuals, Output Active Learning, Critical Thinking, Distributed Practice, Practice Testing Managing and balancing a large group of students Effective communication with co-workers
