The UK ranks second in the world for university-industry collaboration (Annual Innovation Report, BIS, 2012). Student satisfaction in the UK is higher than ever, with 86% of students satisfied overall with their course (National Student Survey). The UK is a world-leading research nation. Researchers in the UK gain more citations and usage per article, and write more articles individually, than anywhere else in the world (International Comparative Performance of the UK Research Base, BIS). 54% of the research conducted by UK universities and colleges is classed as 'world-leading' (Research Assessment Exercise). Over 88% of international higher education graduates were satisfied with their UK learning experience (BIS Tracking International Graduate Outcomes). 93% of UK postgraduate students rated the quality of teaching positively (HE Academy Postgraduate Taught Experience). The UK has the lowest student drop-out rate in Europe (Analysis for University of Southampton and IZA). UK universities and research institutions have produced 107 Nobel Prize winners (Nobel Media AB).

MA (Master of Arts) MSc (Master of Science) Subject-specific qualifications e.g. MEng (Master of Engineering), MFA (Master of Fine Arts), LLM (Master of Laws), MArch (Master of Architecture), and more. MBA (Master of Business Administration): Internationally recognised qualification for a successful management career. PhDs/doctorates Highest academic level a student can achieve. Careers in academia (as a lecturer or researcher). Need at least a 2:1 result at undergraduate level, often also Master’s For taught postgrad you normally need to do a research project, you might have exams, might be coursework. MBA courses cover topics such as business policy and strategy, operational and strategic management, marketing, market research, finance and accounting, IT, human resource management, leadership, entrepreneurship and international trade. MPhil: Full-time students complete studies in two years with thesis and some original research, and it can go on to a PhD PhD is on final thesis.
