1 HUMAN-ENVIRONMENT INTERACTION
PROJECT 04 LESSON 06

2 HOW DO HUMANS AND ENVIRONMENT AFFECT EACH OTHER?
Human-environment interaction basically means that humans affect the environment and the environment affects humans. Humans adapt to, depend on, and modify the environment.

3 3 PARTS OF HUMAN-ENVIRONMENT INTERACTION
1. ADAPT 2. DEPEND 3. MODIFY

4 ADAPT Irrigation Wearing warm clothing In order to survive many conditions, humans must adapt or adjust to the environment. Adapting basically means changing the way you live. It is most obvious to see how people adapt to be more comfortable. Ex: People in cold climates build warmer shelters, use resources for heat, and wear warmer clothing. Another example is when dry climates irrigate to grow crops.

5 Oil and mineral resources
DEPEND Open space or land Wind Oil and mineral resources Humans depend on the environment when they use the environment to meet needs. For example, they use the environment to get food, clothing, shelter, or any other resources. What are resources? Resources are anything people can use that comes from natures.

6 MODIFY Humans modify the environment any time they change anything.
Building dams Plowing fields Humans modify the environment any time they change anything. Instead of adapting to fit the environment, many times humans will try to change the environment to fit their needs. Any time anyone builds anything, moves anything, or destroys anything, it modifies the environment.
