12 *HYMN #2001 “We Sing to You, O God” v.2

18 *PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison)
You long to fill us with your comfort and peace, Good Shepherd. Yet like sheep who have gone astray, we have not listened to your voice

19 calling us to lie down, be restored and satisfied in You
calling us to lie down, be restored and satisfied in You. We act as if our peace and wholeness lie in our own control. We choose to trust that the world has much to

20 offer, much we desire. You would feed us with more than we need, but we continue to hunger for the sweet sensations offered to us by that temptation.

21 Forgive us for rejecting your shepherding care, your love and your guidance. Forgive us for choosing the world over you. Forgive us for doubting your presence in times of trouble.

22 Merciful One, lead us back to you, the path of life, the place of salvation. Amen. (silence is observed for reflection and prayer)

23 *ASSURANCE OF PARDON L: Friends, hear the Good News: In the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we learn that God’s love has no bounds. In Christ we are forgiven, and are empowered to begin anew. Friends,

24 believe the Good News of the Gospel. P: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Amen.

27 PROCLAIMING THE WORD SCRIPTURE READING: Ephesians 5:8-14

28 For once you were darkness, but now in the Lord you are light
For once you were darkness, but now in the Lord you are light. Live as children of light – for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true. Try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful

29 works of darkness, but instead expose them
works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what such people do secretly; but everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything that becomes visible is light.

30 Therefore it says, ‘Sleeper, awake
Therefore it says, ‘Sleeper, awake! Rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.’

31 SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 23

32 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil;

33 for you are with me; your rod and your staff – they comfort me
for you are with me; your rod and your staff – they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the

34 days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long. L: This is the Word of the Lord. P: Thanks be to God!
