Lesson 1
2
LO: to memorise number bonds below 10. (Starter)
We can use our fingers to figure out the missing numbers from the number bond. Eg. 4 + ____ = 6
3
Put 2 in your head and count on on your fingers….
2 + ____ = 6 5 6 4 3
4
How many fingers do you have left up?
2 + 4 = 6 4
5
Put 7 in your head and count on on your fingers….
___ + 7 = 9 9 8
6
How many fingers do you have left up?
2 + 7 = 9 2
7
Put 3 in your head and count on on your fingers….
3 + ____ = 8 6 7 5 8 4
8
How many fingers do you have left up?
3 + 5 = 8 5
9
LO: to memorise number bonds below 10.
Remember!!! You can just count your fingers either to find the difference between numbers…. Try a few times with your teacher…
10
LO: to memorise number bonds below 10.
___ + 6 = 8 Show me 8 fingers…. Bend down 6… how many are left over? That’s right! 2! 2 + 6 = 8
11
LO: to recognise number bonds 5,6,7,8,9 by memory.
Teacher; copy and paste the link to forward you to explore types of number bonds – must be logged into abacus beforehand. Let’s chant our number bonds… We need to know them by heart!!
12
LO: to memorise number bonds from 5 – 9.
• Split children into groups of four, each with a whiteboard and someone who can write numbers well in each group. Give each group a different number (6, 7, 8 and 9). Children use a stick of cubes the length of their number, and they work out and write down all the bonds. E.g. for six cubes: 0 + 6, 1 + 5, 2 + 4, 3 + 3, 4 + 2, etc. • Let each group share their work, chanting them as a group. Record the pairs on the flip chart.
13
Let’s take a look at page 10
14
LO: to memorise number bonds to 5,6,7,8,9.
Be ready to write the bonds on your whiteboards…. How many monsters do we need? Explore all the different ways to make 5/6/7/8/9 using the red and blue monsters as a picture aid. Partner 1 write the first number bond. Eg 2 +3 = 5 Partner 2 swap it around to write the other version! Eg = 5
15
Plenary: Let’s try to remember our number bonds by heart….
Lets chant together… take a look at our number bond posters….
16
Lesson 2
17
LO: to understand the relationship between number bonds and subtraction. Explain to chn when we solve these missing number sentences we are doing subtractions. Show the two sets of five pegs on coat hanger. Then slide them together. Five add five makes ten. Then remove five again, leaving 5. Ten subtract five leaves five.
18
LO: to investigate number bonds to 10.
5 + 5 = 10 6 4 +
19
LO: to investigate number bonds to 10.
= 5 6 4 +
20
LO: to investigate number bonds to 10.
5 + 5 = – 5 = 5
21
LO: to investigate number bonds to 10.
3 + 7 = 10 6 4 +
22
LO: to investigate number bonds to 10.
= 3 6 4 +
23
LO: to investigate number bonds to 10.
3 + 7 = – 7 = 3
24
LO: to investigate number bonds to 10.
6 + 4 = 10 6 4 +
25
LO: to investigate number bonds to 10.
= 6 6 4 +
26
LO: to investigate number bonds to 10.
6 + 4 = – 4 = 6
27
Use the pictures or count backwards on your fingers to help you minus.
Now lets try…. Pg. 13 in our workbooks. Use the pictures or count backwards on your fingers to help you minus.
29
Challenge: How many different ways are there?
Red group: If you finish early… write out all your number bonds to 10 and then the subtraction versions…. Challenge: How many different ways are there?
30
Lesson 3
31
LO: to count in multiples of 10 to 100.
Count in 10s along and back, moving strips of 10 beads. How many beads are there? The numbers we just counted are multiples of 10.
32
Put your finger on 50…. Count the rest of the beads in 10s to complete the sentence = 100. Use fingers, counting in 10s, to check.
33
LO: to use number bonds in multiples of 10 to 100
LO: to use number bonds in multiples of 10 to Put your finger on 40…. How many tens do we have to jump to get to 100?
34
LO: to use number bonds in multiples of 10 to 100
LO: to use number bonds in multiples of 10 to Put your finger on 80…. How many tens do we have to jump to get to 100?
35
LO: to use number bonds in multiples of 10 to 100
LO: to use number bonds in multiples of 10 to Put your finger on 20…. How many tens do we have to jump to get to 100?
36
LO: to use number bonds in multiples of 10 to 100
LO: to use number bonds in multiples of 10 to Put your finger on 50…. How many tens do we have to jump to get to 100?
37
LO: to explore number bonds to 100.\
5 + = 10 + 3 = 10 2 + = 10 + 6 = 10 = 10 50 + = = = + 40 = = + 60 = = 100
38
Challenge: Write out your number bonds to 100 on your whiteboards… How many are there?
39
Lesson 4 LO: to use number bonds in multiples of 10 to 100.
40
LO: to use number bonds in multiples of 10 to 100.
What adds to three to make ten? So what adds to thirty to make one hundred? Which number bond to ten do we use to work out sixty add something equals one hundred?
41
LO: to add 1-digit to 2-digit number.
Wednesday - Aviation Day Starter: you need to find the correct numbers to make number bonds to 10 to keep away the enemy while you fly your fighter jet! Good luck!
42
LO: Add 1-digit to 2-digit number.
Point to = on the slide. Can we do this in an easy way? Remind chn to think about 2 + 6, revealing it on interactive whiteboard. k/resource/170185
43
LO: Add 1-digit to 2-digit number.
Therefore, If you know your small number bonds the rest are easy…. = 17 4 + 3 = 7 = 37 = 77
44
LO: Add 1-digit to 2-digit number.
Therefore, If you know your small number bonds the rest are easy…. 4 + 1 = = 15 4 + 3 = 7 = 35 = 75
45
LO: Add 1-digit to 2-digit number.
Therefore, If you know your small number bonds the rest are easy…. 4 + 4 = = 18 4 + 3 = 7 = 38 = 78
46
LO: Add 1-digit to 2-digit number.
Therefore, If you know your small number bonds the rest are easy…. 3 + 6 = = 29 4 + 3 = 7 = 49 = 69
47
LO: Add 1-digit to 2-digit number.
Therefore, If you know your small number bonds the rest are easy…. 2 + 4 = = 26 4 + 3 = 7 = 46 = 66
48
LO: Add 1-digit to 2-digit number.
Therefore, If you know your small number bonds the rest are easy…. 1 + 4 = = 25 4 + 3 = 7 41+ 4 = 45 = 65
49
LO: Add 1-digit to 2-digit number.
Use the number bonds you know already to solve these two digit problems..
