IRS 990N E-Postcard Tax return for your chapter File yearly between July 1st & November 15th Filing for the previous fiscal year (July 1 – June 30) Cannot file after November 15, site will be closed, must use a CPA Miss a filing? Chapters must file for 3 consecutive years Miss filing for 3 consecutive years? IRS revokes chapter’s non-profit status Regaining non-profit status is a lengthy process – avoid it by filing A direct link to the IRS website for filing can be found by going to – go to the Treasurer’s page Help sheets are also on the web site Note: You will no longer send a paper copy to Headquarters. 7 Budget Every chapter should have a budget
The treasurer works closely with the chapter Finance Committee and Committee Chairmen to determine projected expenses Income is usually determined by membership and desired number of initiates as well as any anticipated interest/donations/fund raising The budget is the treasurer’s guideline for expenses Approval of the budget should be voted on at the first meeting of the new fiscal year (July 1-June30) is our fiscal year When developing the year’s budget, the previous year’s expenditures will be helpful The treasurer will want to keep a “weather eye” on the budget as the year progresses and monitor reimbursements

15 After your chapter’s dues are processed, you will receive your pink copy of Form 18, a sales receipt, and a payment summary like this one. Please note that the summary is NOT a reflection of membership, only payment.

17 Contributions go to ASTEF or Eula Lee Carter Memorial Fund
ASTEF will be to one of three (3) funds: Leadership member = Journeyers member = Trailblazers Scholarship member = Honors member = Dbl Honors member = Trpl Honors Projects member = Groundbreaker member = Builder Make checks to ASTEF; use online form Postmark deadline for Convention Recognition: April 1 Contributions to Eula Lee Carter Memorial Fund are made out to TSO. This fund has the same postmark deadline as ASTEF, but a different online form.

Be familiar with “Guidelines for Chapter Treasurers” Send all three copies of Form 18 to TSO with ANY dues: active/reserve/initiate/reinstatement Use interactive forms on website(s) when available dkg.org and dkgtexas.org...you may destroy old forms Each contribution should be on a separate form with a separate check (can be in same envelope) State deadlines are important for PACE, Convention Recognition, & International deadlines It is wise to have two signatures on chapter checks Use your chapter name in “subject” line of
