3 What is Notio? Notio is the Intranet for the University of Oulu. It supports work and interaction. All internal material of the University and its departments are available in Notio. Notio has news and guides. It has workspaces, which all departments, faculties, units, laboratories, and staff members can set up.

4 Basics Notio works in the browser like any web site. You can sign in to Notio at with your UNIV login. Notio user help is at Your requests are handled by IT customer support, Communications and Notio tehnical support. The Notio Extranet is for workspaces with external members who have no access to Notio. Notio Extranet is at

5 Logging in and out You log in to Notio automatically with Microsoft Internet Explorer from inside the University. You need your UNIV login to sign in with other browsers. You can sign out at the top right corner by clicking your own name and selecting "Sign out".

6 How to use notio Notio has an extensive Search function. You can find any content by anybody in Notio. You may comment, discuss or "like" most Notio content. You can edit content together with other staff members. You can also order notifications on new or updated content.

7 News section Notio has all the important news, events and notices of the University. Functions, decisions and background stories, writings by the management, and news are published in the Here and Now section. You can order an notification for any content or updates.

8 Guides section Guides can be accessed in the left hand navigation. University Services units are responsible for updating the Guides. On the guides pages you can find connect information, tools, links and notices related to each guide specifically. Attachments are at the bottom of guide pages. If you cannot find the guide you are looking fore, you can use the Search box at the top of each page.

9 Workspaces Any staff member may set up a workspace. There you can distribute or work on content either within a selected group or publicly. A work space can be for an organization, work group, topic or project with several persons in charge and one or more members and readers. The person in charge may alter the structure and content of the workspace rather freely.

10 Workspaces Workspaces can be found behind “eduuni workspaces“ at the top of Notio pages. You then need to log in. You can see the list of all workspaces you are a member of. There are two kinds of workspaces: regular ("tavallinen") and official ("virallinen"). Most workspaces are regular, and any staff member can open them. They are exclusive to named members. Official workspaces are public workspaces for management, profit units and work groups. You can filter work spaces by type.

11 My site Every staff member has their personal My site. There you can publish information about your own work, writings, pictures, blog, files etc. You may use your My site rather freely. You can also have your own news feed that collects feeds from the people or content you want form social media services. You can edit your personal information with the Edit profile function. Your information comes from the personnel system, but you can edit some of it. You can also define what your visitors see. Please fill in as much as you can so that you can be found with the search function.
