3 T shirts We asked all Year 10 students to design a t shirt for the expedition. We had lots of very good entries, but the clear winner was Sai!

4 Departing Harrow International School:
Buses will leave at 6:15a.m. on Saturday (Group A) and Sunday (Group B) from the school clock tower to the airport. You must be there on time. You must: have your ID/Passports (if you gave 2 bring your ID card) be wearing your Expedition T-shirt be wearing walking shoes (no flip flops)

5 Luggage Students need 2 rucksacks: - One day pack (carry-on luggage)
- One large rucksack (check in – 15kg max) Carry on luggage must not contain liquids or sharps

6 Phones and communication:
You are strongly advised not to bring personal expensive electronic devices You will not be allowed to use their phones from arrival at camp You may use their phone during the flight & bus journeys In case of emergencies only, call: - Group A: Mr Jenkins - Group B: Mrs Wilson Thank you

8 Health and Safety We do take safety very seriously.
With us on the Year 10 expedition are: a lifeguard a nurse Primary and Secondary care trained members of staff We will also be in contact with the school everyday We have completed a risk assessment for every part of the trip Our trip provider (Wild Planet) has highly qualified and experienced staff leading activities.

9 Itinerary

10 Day 1 From Chiang Mai Airport, transfer to coaches, then songtaews to reach our base campsite in Khii Mii. Here students will undertake skills training and erect a bivouac and cook their evening meal.

11 Day 2 Students will visit the Kii Mii Cave and carry out Community service using the money raised from their fund raising efforts earlier in the year. Camping at Nong bua, campfire and marshmallows

12 Day 3 A 10-12km trek Accommodation: River camp, students cook their own dinner.

13 Day 4 Full safety briefing and training Rafting (4 to 5 hours)
Night in Pak Koh Lam village

14 Day 5 Rafting (5 to 6 hours) Night at river camp in Muang Khut
BBQ style dinner, bonfire and fun awards

15 Day 6 Early departure in minivans to Chiang Mai airport
Students will have time to buy lunch at the airport or on the flight Arrival at school at 2pm Please collect students from school promptly

16 A warm sleeping bag (no roll mat), a wooly hat and socks are essential

17 Very Important All medication must be given to the nurse.
All medication must clearly labelled with name and dosage in English. Any medical or personal issues that you think we should be aware of, please come and speak to us. It is extremely important that no student takes medication without the knowledge of the nurse (this includes paracetamol).

18 Video Competition The challenge is to produce the best and most exciting video recollection of the trip. The format is up to you but be creative!

19 Duke Of Edinburgh’s International Award Staff
Mr Matthews & Mr Verran We run ORB and information sessions every Monday, Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday in 3PM

20 Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award requirements
From Bronze to Silver: some students are already doing it Bronze: 3, 3, 6 months, 1 hour a week Silver:6, 6, 6, months, 1 hour a week -Physical recreation -Skills -Service + Adventurous Journey You are already doing it, so do it!

21 Adventurous Journey, signing up and training
If you would like to use this expedition for the Adventurous Journey section of the Award the you MUST have already completed Bronze. You will need to do some training and paperwork before we go and complete some extra tasks during the expedition and present to the assessors after the trip. If you decide after the trip to do Silver, you cannot use this trip as an Adventurous Journey

22 Expedition Leadership Groups
To fulfil the schools mission ‘leadership for a better world’, Harrow Bangkok uses every opportunity to develop students’ leadership skills. On this trip you will be given a group and on one day you will be the group leader. The trip leader will give information daily to the group leader. It will be your job to give that information to your group and organise your group. It is essential that you know what group you are in and what day you are a leader
