1 Where are we going? A vision for….

2 Aims Produce a simple strategic statement for the partnership. Explore roles, accountabilities and decision-making requirements. Identify strategic priorities. Scope a high level implementation plan.

3 Personal Visions Who am I and what is my involvement?
What do I want to achieve from this involvement? What are my biggest hopes? What would I like from this group?

What is a vision? an ideal future a “big picture” aspiration for the future sets out the purpose of the partnership reflects the beliefs and values of the partnership is something people can be inspired by and work towards

6 What is a vision? Imaginable - conveys a picture of what the future will look like Desirable - appeals to the long-term interests of employees, customers, stockholders, and others who have a stake in the enterprise Feasible - comprises realistic, attainable goals Focused - is clear enough to provide guidance in decision making Flexible - is general enough to allow individual initiative and alternative responses in light of changing conditions Communicable - is easy to communicate; can be successfully explained within five minutes

7 The characteristics of collaboration: purpose and vision
Openess to other perspectives is critical to developing a sense of shared purpose and common values. A key step is making priorities and aspirations explicit and understanding those held by partner organisations. If you are clear about why you are collaborating and can reach a common understanding of what a successful outcome looks like you are more likely to achieve it. A shared vision can motivate, inspire and generate energy for action.

Split into 3 groups: Group 1 = focus on learners Group 2 = focus on delivery and support staff Group 3 = focus on the partnership Step One: 10 minutes What will we see, hear and feel when we have outstanding xxxx? Create a metaphor to describe this for your group.

Step Two: Share metaphors Step Three: 15 minutes Mix up the groups to form three new ones; Merge your metaphors to create a new one AND create the words for your vision
