Data: The CPR as a main source for population and social statistics in Norway
Central Register of Population (CPR) established in 1964 – based on the Population Census of local registers already established in 1946 Established for administrative - not statistical – purposes The pin-code essential in linking all the various registers based on this system All national administrative registers that are based on individuals use the pin-code. A comprehensive register society. “All” governmental agencies and a lot of private firms have limited access to these register data - more than 1500 in total. Cooperation between governmental agencies
