While You Are Waiting - #4 Video Clip - Lysosomes Notes: Organelles that Store, Clean up, and Support Homework: Study the organelles and their functions
3
Lysosome Video Clip
4
Content Objective: I will be able to compare cellular structures and their functions in eukaryotic cells
5
Organelles that Store, Clean up, and Support
6
Organelles that store, clean up, and support
Vacuoles, Vesicles, Lysosomes, and the Cytoskeleton Vacuoles are large saclike structures that store materials like water, salts, proteins, and carbohydrates Plants cells contain a large central vacuole that helps support heavy structures such as leaves Some single celled organisms such as paramecia have contractile vacuoles that help pump out excess water
7
Paramecium
8
As compared to vacuoles, vesicles are smaller structures which store and move materials between cell organelles
9
As compared to vacuoles, vesicles are smaller structures which store and move materials between cell organelles vesicle vesicle
10
Lysosomes are small organelles filled with enzymes that break down lipids, carbohydrates, and proteins into small molecules that the cell can use They also break down old organelles lysosome

While You Are Waiting - #5 (I am collecting today) Cytoskeleton Video Clip Notes: Organelles that Support Homework: Organelles in Eukaryotic Cells Sheet
14
Content Objective: I will be able to compare cellular structures and their functions in eukaryotic cells
16
The cytoskeleton is a network of fibers and tubes that help the cell maintain its shape and allows certain organelles to move as well as certain cells to move cytoskeleton cytoskeleton
17
The cytoskeleton is a network of fibers and tubes that help the cell maintain its shape and allows certain organelles to move as well as certain cells to move Cytoskeleton consists of microtubules- hollow protein structures Cytoskeleton consists of microfilaments- threadlike structures made of proteins called actin
18
Microtubules help many cells maintain their shape, form centrioles which aid in cell reproduction, and form cilia and flagella which allow some single celled organisms to move Microfilaments provide a flexible support for some cells and help other cells such as amoebas to move centrioles Cytoskeleton consists of microfilaments- threadlike structures made of proteins called actin
19
Cilia and Flagella bacteria paramecium flagella
