Singapore Math Adding Fractions
Step 1: Read the problem Step 2: Draw three equal rectangle boxes – each box equals one whole Step 3: Draw the first fraction with horizontal lines Step 4: Draw the second fraction with vertical lines Step 5: Make the first and second rectangle look the “same” – Fractions are Fair Step 6: Count how many pieces now equals one whole rectangle – that will be the denominator. Step 7: Count the total number of boxes now colored in the first and second rectangle – that will be your numerator.
