2. Registration, Identification, Attire
Intern Registration
Must carry Nebraska intern card with you at all times while on rotation
Updates … name changes
For rotations in other states – usually require state intern license; timely application important!
Identification Badge
Required to be on your person at all times while on rotation
Professional Attire
White Coat; Appropriate Attire; Institutional Policies

3. EPIC / OneChart
If rotation at TNMC or any site utilizing EPIC/OneChart, check with preceptor early regarding what is desired
Passwords/access assignment in progress
Patient Confidentiality
Must comply with HIPAA
Violation will result in failure of clerkship and potentially impact graduation.

4. Things that are required
BLS Certification – renewal
Fall 2016 – done?
Background check
March/2017
Required campus training
March 2017 (Due April 15, 2017)
Annual Student Self-Assessment
March/April 2017

5. BLS Certification American Heart Association (AHA)
2 year certification
Check your card’s expiration date …
Must be valid through May 2018
Be sure to schedule class if not already taken
Please provide an updated copy of card to Dean’s Office
Must have a copy of valid card on file or we cannot approve your course registration

6. Background Check All UNMC students required to complete Procedure:
Campus requirement – approved by BOR
Initial completion … Aug-Sep 2014
Repeat early 2017 so current data available for sites

7. Self-Reporting UNMC Campus Policy:
“Student shall report to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, within 30 days, any new convictions involving criminal activity, including but not limited to theft, assault and/or illegal drug / alcohol activity (e.g. violations of “driving under the influence” and “driving while ability impaired”) which could interfere with clinical placements or obtaining a licensure to practice following graduation.”
Interns are exempt from mandatory reporting, but are encouraged to report such incidents to NE DHHS

9. P3 Annual Student Self-Assessment
Required … must be completed before starting clerkships
P3 version
Based upon revised outcomes statements initiated AY
May be several sections but can partially complete … save & return
March / April time-frame
You will receive notification from Christina Ullman when open for completion
Reminder: Course & Instructor Evaluations must also be completed

10. Immunizations/TB Testing
Immunization information
UNMC & site requirements continue to change:
Titers required for many sites before I can sign off that all requirements are met
Flu Shots … more sites requiring documentation

Arrangements made for P3 class to be tested in spring (~April … vs annual fall TB testing)
