6 Aaronic Priesthood Purposes
Be Converted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and live its teachings Be able to serve faithfully in priesthood callings and fulfill the responsibilities of priesthood offices Be willing to give meaningful service Be prepared to live worthily to receive the Melchizedek Priesthood and temple ordinances Be prepared to serve an honorable full-time mission Be committed to obtain as much education as possible Be prepared to become a worthy husband and father Be committed to give proper respect to women, girls and children

8 Adult Association Young men lead the crew
Adult leaders provide “shadow” leadership Adult leaders focus more on spiritual needs of the young men and on forming strong , supportive relationships with young men

9 Leadership All young men need leadership opportunities
Crew leaders are elected President, two vice presidents, secretary, etc. Venturing leadership skills courses available Each young man should have a responsibility or stewardship Adult leaders assist young men in accomplishing their assigned tasks without doing the jobs for them (shadow leadership)

10 Recognition Some may still be working on Eagle Scout Duty to God Award

As a Venturer,
I promise to do my duty to God
and help strengthen America,

to seek truth, fairness,
and adventure
in our world.

12 Ideals Venturing Code:
As a Venturer, I believe that America's strength lies in our trust in God and in the courage, strength, and traditions of our people. I will, therefore, be faithful in my religious duties and will maintain a personal sense of honor in my own life. I will treasure my American heritage and will do all I can to preserve and enrich it. I will recognize the dignity and worth of all humanity and will use fair play and goodwill in my daily life.; I will acquire the Venturing attitude that seeks truth in all things and adventure on the frontiers of our changing world.

New skills developed in group setting Organized based on needs of young men Positive “Peer pressure” Promotes social skills necessary for missionary service.

Young men need opportunities to overcome obstacles/difficulties to develop coping skills, confidence and faith Promotes adult-youth relationships Can serve as powerful motivation for young men
