Goals of the Computer – Keyboarding Program
Classes Once per Week – 30 minutes Tuesdays & Thursdays Keyboarding Emphasizing Proper Keyboarding Techniques Familiarizing students with letter placement on keyboard Increasing Speed (WPM) and Accuracy Microsoft Office Tools Word – keyboarding, formatting, document creation PowerPoint – presentation creation, public speaking skills Excel – data entry, formulas, graph and chart creation

Google Apps for Education Google provides online applications to allow students to create, share and organize work from any device, anywhere, at any time. All students in Grades 3 – 5 will be issued a Google User Name & Password and will be learning the Apps in Computer Class. Classroom Teachers will also be implementing the use of Google into their classrooms Google Apps for Education include: Docs – word processing Slides – presentation creation Sheets - spreadsheets Drive – online storage Classroom – online paperless classroom tool

Internet Research Webquests Internet Safety Digital Citizenship, Cyberbullying, Online Safety PARCC Prep Sample questions, practice with test interface, writing/typing prompts, virtual manipulatives Partner with Classroom Teachers Support WTSD Curriculum Journeys, Raz-Kids, Study Island, ThinkCentral, Everyday Math

Devices Students will have access to a variety of devices in the computer class and in their classrooms. Dell laptops, iPad Airs and Chromebooks.

What can you do to help? Practice, Practice, Practice!
Encourage proper keyboarding techniques (two hands on keyboard, proper posture, typing from HOME Row) Educational Computer Games Monitor Internet & Social Media Usage If students can bring their own HEADPHONES from home it would be greatly appreciated! They can bring them in a Ziploc bag with their name on them!
