Self Care-Definition In health care, self care is any necessary human regulatory function which is under individual control, deliberate and self-initiated. Some place self care on a continuum with health care providers at the opposite end to self care. In modern medicine, preventive medicine aligns most closely with self care.

Mother Theresa took 4 hours each morning to “connect” before she stepped foot into the day. Pope John Paul took 3 ½ hours each morning of quiet time. Did society say of them…those Lazy people…always thinking about themselves first! Helping ourselves FIRST assures we are more able to provide service and assistance to those in our family, our workplace and our community.

What are you “feeding” yourself?
Take a moment to Breathe right now. Ask yourself a couple of quick questions. How do I awaken in the morning? What food do I eat throughout the day? Where do I eat that food? How do I feel when I do/don’t get everything checked off my daily list? How do I reward myself after a long day at work? How do I go to sleep at night?
