1 Graduate Writing Center (GWC)’s Online Graduate Writing Tutoring
One-to-one tutoring INTERACTIVE STRATEGY-BASED Sessions Open Writing Sessions GWC’s Online Learning Commons We're coming to you from the Graduate Writing Center, to inform you about the GWC's Online Graduate Writing Tutoring. Online Graduate Writing Tutoring is available to you as online graduate students and we would like to give you a brief walk-through of our offerings.

2 What can Online Graduate Writing Tutoring do for you?
One-to-One Ongoing Online tutoring: Weekly scheduled feedback from the same tutor within 24 hours through WCOnline. First up is our one-to-one tutoring. How it works is you are required to upload one to two files (we will get into the specifics of those files in just a moment) and in 24 hours a dedicated tutor will get back to you with feedback.

3 One-to-One tutoring: Ongoing Online Tutoring
Can you explain how this example connects to the second part of the prompt a little more here? Before you move on to the next ¶ ? Here’s an example of the kind of comments you could expect to receive from a tutor. This is an example of a tutee’s paper, you’ll see how there are comments made in the margins asking the tutee to explain more and connect to the prompt.

4 One-to-one Tutee/Tutor Comments:
And this second file is an example of the “Weekly Comments” document that the tutee will upload every week for their tutor. Basically, a tutee will follow this template and respond to the questions each week. This is a way to recreate a dialogue that tutees would experience in a face-to-face session. This tells the tutor about the student’s workload or specific concerns within their writing.

5 The GWC Online Learning Commons
GWC’S Online Learning Commons: Online Graduate Writing Tutoring has an open BB Collaborate room which you may use 24/7 to meet with fellow students, set up Study Groups, and/or complete out-of-class collaborative work. Interactive Strategy-based Sessions (e.g., Time Management for Online Students)—offered in class by faculty request or in the Commons by student request. One of the GWC's new offerings is the Online Learning Commons. It is an open Blackboard Collaborate room dedicated to online students. This is where we also hold interactive strategy-based sessions.

6 Online Writing Session in the Learning Commons (via BB Collaborate)
Here is a slide from one of our revision sessions. Tutors would go through the slide, but the session is dynamic in that tutees are encouraged to ask specific questions or voice specific revision concerns connected with their coursework. This allows us to offer a structured session lesson but still address specific concerns.

7 Other Online Graduate Tutoring Offerings
Other Interactive Strategy-Based sessions (offered by request, in classes or in the Commons) include --Generating Writing --(Re)organizing Papers --Revision and the Writing Process --Research Writing Strategies --Cite/Write/Right In-Class visits are customized to the needs of specific classes and with specific assignments in mind. Some of the other in-class visits we’ve done in the past are up on the slide. These are things that can be tailored to your needs--based on what you need and what your professor would like to focus on.
