2 Celebrating Career and Technical Education Month
Career programs are offered for students in middle grades programs and in high school. There are sixteen nationally recognized career clusters. Huntsville City Schools prepares students for further education and jobs in each of the career clusters.

4 Celebrating Career and Technical Education Month
The theme of 2014 Career and Technical Education month is “Celebrate CTE Superheroes.” We want to thank our teachers and directors who work daily to support student learning goals through their work with our career programs. We have many student superheroes earning college credits, credentials and certifications through our career programs. Tonight, you will hear from several of our exemplary students representing career programs in Huntsville City Schools.

5 Career & Technical Education Student Spotlight
Student: Savitha Venkatesh Eighth Grade: Challenger Middle School Program: Project Lead the Way Design & Modeling: Students in this course learn the engineering design process and apply it to the problem based curriculum. As part of the design and modeling process, students generate computer assisted drawings which they then use with a 3-D printer to create working prototypes of their designs.

Student: Jaquala Hammonds Senior: Johnson High School Program: Law Academy Mock Trials: Students in the Johnson Law Academy participate in mock trials in Birmingham. This experience, as well as the other opportunities in the Johnson Law Academy, have helped Jaquala choose to pursue a career as an attorney.

Student: Tyler Tomlin Senior: Huntsville High School Program: Microsoft IT Academy Microsoft IT Academy: The Microsoft IT Academy is a four year program to prepare students in a business related career. Students earn MS Office Specialist certifications through completion of the program and qualifying scores on certification exams. Tyler has earned certifications in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
