Program Overview College- and career-ready initiative.
Provides students with 21st century skills to acquire certification and be competitive in today’s workplace. IT skills required in more than 50 percent of jobs. Professional Development opportunities for educators. 10,000 IT Academy members in more than 160 countries. Educators stay up-to-date on the latest Microsoft technologies and can easily integrate these technologies into new or existing curricula. Educators can tailor classes to meet the needs of students of all ages and levels of experience.

Program Benefits and Features
Unlimited access to E-Learning courses in Microsoft Office applications and Windows. Teachers can administer content and manage students’ progress with the online Instructor Learning Management System. Students learn essential computer skills training with Microsoft Digital Literacy. Up to 50 lab licenses for Microsoft Office Professional Academic 2010. Free and customizable lesson plans, personalized course completion certificates, and tools that enable teachers to create their own online courses.

Virginia’s Partnership with Microsoft
Partnership announced by Governor McDonnell, September 14, 2011. Offer to all VA school divisions and schools by spring 2012. Available to school divisions at no cost. Pilot program – 30 high schools and 9 regional centers statewide, covering 7 of the 8 Superintendents’ regions. Due to overwhelming response, “Early Adopter Status” granted to requesting divisions/schools not selected for the pilot.

RCPS Participation as Early Adopter
Massanutten Technical Center Evening adult computer classes BHS, ERHS, SHS, and TAHS MOS Test preparation (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) for students taking Computer Information Systems and Design, Multimedia, and Web Technologies IT Academy (free) to replace current test prep software that must be purchased.
