Distribution of diagnoses among the nearly 115,000 cases of lymphoid malignancy diagnosed in There are 5400 cases of acute lymphoid leukemia (ALL), 15,100 cases of chronic lymphoid leukemia (CLL), 8200 cases of Hodgkin disease, 19,900 cases of plasma cell disorders, chiefly multiple myeloma, and 66,100 cases of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Among non-Hodgkin lymphomas, the distribution of diagnoses within that heterogeneous group is provided in the bar graph. These data are derived from an international study.50 In the United States, diffuse large B cell lymphoma accounts for about 40 percent of cases and follicular lymphoma about 33 percent; thus, these two diagnoses account for nearly 3 of 4 patients in the United States.
