Lesson 1 Modern Agriculture and Gardening Rising to Fulfilment as Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture Theme of the Course: Transforming modern agriculture and gardening to agree with the culturing intelligence of natural law, and thereby uphold good health and balanced environment for national invincibility and world peace Arable and Horticulture Plant Nutrition and Soil Hydrology and Farm Design Environment Damaging effects Soil biota structure the soil Farms have not been designed Soils degraded by agriculture Sustainable methods All soils have all nutrients Water is essential Loss of soil carbon Synthesis Interdependence Nutrients available Water self-sufficiency Solutions are profitable Principles Principles Farm design Agreeing with nature Enlivening the intelligence in matter by agreeing with the culturing intelligence Unified Field of all the Laws of Nature— the Self of Everyone Analysis ‘Agriculture is Total Knowledge’ -Maharishi The course is structured in the form of the Damru, which is the structure of Total Knowledge. This is the sequence in which Total Knowledge, Brahm, is gained. The Course begins with the practical aspects – read the lessons then by the process of synthesis, goes deeper to the principles, and to the ultimate value of synthesis Lesson 10, Maharishi’s inauguration of VOA - the unified value of agriculture. From the unified value it emerges by the process of analysis to the principles – read lessons and the practical aspects – lessons , but this time all in terms of unity. Maharishi explained this principle of gaining Total Knowledge in terms of going to school: the child goes to school, and then he knows how to get there. But he doesn’t yet know the way back home. Only when he walks back home from school does he know the whole story. Total Knowledge is gained when both paths have been traversed: analysis and synthesis. So the course has this form, which not only unfolds the knowledge sequentially, but gives the actual experience of synthesis and analysis in the consciousness of the student, which is the experience of enlightenment dawning. Structure of Veda Structure of Veda Water is life itself.
