4 The Mission of AVID The mission of AVID is to ensure that ALL students: will succeed in a rigorous curriculum, will complete a rigorous college preparatory path, will become involved in school activities, will increase their enrollment in four-year colleges, will become educated and responsible participants and leaders in a democratic society.

12 MTHS AVID Recruitment Timeline
January – Student recommendations are made for the MTHS AVID program by 8th grade teachers. February – AVID applications are mailed home for students that are recommended. March – AVID applications are due. Current 8th grade AVID students do not have to complete an application, but are required to sit for an interview with MTHS AVID Site Team. April – All current 8th grade students and potential new AVID students are interviewed by MTHS AVID Site Team members. April/May – Students are selected for the AVID program.
