Areas of Parallelograms and Trapezoids
Objective: Learn to find the area of parallelograms and trapezoids.
2
To find the area of a parallelogram you must multiply the base times the height.
Formula: Area = base × height or A = b × h Find the area of each parallelogram. Example: A = b x h A = 8m x 6m A = 48m2 YOUR EXAMPLE:
3
Area = (base 1 + base 2) × height
To find the area of a trapezoid you have to add the two bases, multiply by the height, and the result divide it by two. Find the area for each trapezoid. Formula: Area = (base 1 + base 2) × height 2 A = (b1 + b2)h Example : A = (b1 + b2)h 2 A = (3m + 6m)4m A = (9m)4m A = 36m2 A = 18m2 YOUR EXAMPLE:
