Attend today… Achieve Tomorrow When my child is absent…
State law requires that a student in grades PK – 4th be subject to compulsory attendance rules. Which absences are excused? Medical absences Late arrivals with a Dr. note Death in the immediate family member Weather conditions making travel dangerous (will be determined by the district) Extenuating circumstances approved by the Principal Religious holy days Court appearances * All absences require documentation in order to be excused. When my child is absent… Send a signed doctor or handwritten note within 5 days of the student return to school. 5 or more absences due to personal illness will require a signed note from the physician. Calls and s will not excuse an absence; follow up with a Dr. or handwritten note. Too many absences?… A student is in violation of the compulsory attendance law if: Is absent from school for three or more days, or part of the day, within a four week period without excuse . Late arrivals and early releases that do not meet the criteria set by the district will count against the student attendance. [See policy FEA(LEGAL)] For detailed information please refer to pages of the student handbook
