2 Presentation description
Session will provide an overview of Converse County School District #1’s model of “Family Engagement“. Participants will see examples and ideas of how to assist with school teams in building meaningful and positive relationships to increase parent to school partnerships. Participants will learn how facilitating community involvement can assist in promoting and sustaining a positive school culture. Participants will learn how to structure meaningful family engagement opportunities and will be provided with the overall framework of the F.E.A.S.T. Program. Participants will receive examples of useful strategies/tools to utilize and support effective parent communication in creating volunteer opportunities in which parents are active school team members.

F.E.A.S.T. has one simple motto: “One Goal, One Community: Families + Schools = Successful Students” F.E.A.S.T. Mission Statement: F.E.A.S.T. aims to promote greater community engagement within the schools for improved and continued student success. Katy

6 Purpose for Parent Liaisons
Increasing parent engagement Improve student outcomes (the whole gamet) Improve overall school culture Educating parents about the school and its systems To be that welcoming committee for the school

7 Starting baseline data for F.E.A.S.T.
Open house night to begin year. All parents are asked to fill out an engagement survey. The data guides our direction for the school year. Katy

Parents make a difference in the way this school operates. Parents know exactly what the school expects of them. Programs are provided for parents to assist with their childs education. Teachers contact parents to discuss their child’s academic progress. If a parent has a concern about a child, the teachers will listen and help. Teachers talk to parents on the phone. Teachers communicate with parents by or written notes. Teachers let parents know good things their children have done. Please write any comments you have:

DPS teachers are expected to document at least 3 positive parent contacts each semester. Various other methods of communication including Remind 101, School Facebook page, Webpage, Class DoJo, electronic publications, Way to Go Postcards, family events, student recognitions and etc.

Transition from fundraising to genuine involvement. They are the first educators in their child’s lives. They need to be aware and a part of somehting special. 15 P.A.C. Parent Advisory Committee
PAC Minutes for Friday, November 6th Nominated parents attended and discussion was on how to keep our PAC numbers up and what their role could be for the year. Ideas discussed were: Care carts for teachers More volunteering for classroom support A father daughter dance What to do with money raised: Ice machine 12 days of Christmas will start Thursday, December 3rd. Remind 101 will be started for our PAC Committee. Meeting will be the first Friday of each month and box tops will be counted on the last Friday of each month. 16 P.A.C. Parent Advisory Committee
PAC Minutes for Friday, April 1st: We will meet again on April 15th after the Cart of Kindness to finalize Teacher Appreciation Week. MAP testing kick off assembly is Monday, May 9th at 2:00. Testing is 10th - 13th. During testing week PAC will set up a coffee bar- More discussed on April 15th. Our bucket for kindness is getting filled. We will have our assembly to celebrate Monday, April 11th. Filed Day is Thursday, May 26th from 11:30 – 2:30. We are asking PAC to bring small waters and gold fish snacks for students to have. We were hoping Amber could bring in the tent/awning as she has in the past. Young Authors Tea is May 5th at 5:00 at the DHS auditorium. Next Cart of Kindness will be Friday, April 15th. Summer Reading Program- We need to come up with ideas of what to do. Next Year ideas: May day basket made by students, family carnival, kickoff carnival, family lunch day, mom’s and muffins and dad’s and doughnuts. Teacher Appreciation Week is May 2nd – 6th. PAC Mon 2nd: Breakfast served Tues 3rd: T-shirts made or Chex mix (more to come on this) Wed 4th: Duties covered. Schedule be out to sign up for on the April 15th Thur 5th: Smoothie bar Fri 6th: Stock the fridge **On April 15th; Box top day, PAC will also finalize ideas for Teacher Appreciation Week and Field Day.** Katy-ask audience about what is affective and what isn’t-what does it look like at your school?
