New Candidates Resolve to Find a Different Job Each January
The first Monday in January, job seeker activity spikes: Job searches increased 92.84% on Monday, January 4, compared to the average number in December 2015. Job seeker traffic remains high throughout Q1 each year We’re a month into the year and the January’s data is in – So we’d like to share some insights we’ve collected on how much job seeker activity has already increased. On, January 4th, which we, at Simply Hired, refer to as Job Hunt Monday, we saw a huge growth in the number of people coming to our site. In fact, job searches increased 93% on Monday, January 4th 2016 compared to the average number in December 2015. This year’s increase even surpassed that of January 2015. Now… if you haven’t acted yet, it’s ok. don’t worry. You haven’t completely missed the rush. Job searches have historically remained high in February and throughout Q1, spiking again in March. So the spike in job searches this January is not the only peak, but rather a strong kickoff for an even better year of talent acquisition in 2016.

Why So Much Activity? New Year’s Resolutions: Previously passive job seekers re-evaluate their current roles and resolve to find new jobs Job seekers who took a break for the holiday season in December re-start their job search in January “We’ve seen a tremendous surge in job search activity on Job Hunt Monday as Americans research better opportunities for the year ahead.” You can probably figure out what’s driving this search increase at the beginning of each year. New Year Resolutions. Right behind weight loss and better managing their finances, people begin to think about finding a new job every January. The data shows that Candidates are more determined to better their lives this year more than ever. So where do they go to look for new jobs? You guessed it. Simply Hired. This is great news for talent acquisition professionals. Job seekers who were previously passive and difficult to reach have become active. That means a new set of eyes can see your jobs, many of which are top tier candidates. James Beriker, President and CEO of Simply Hired

How to Reach High Quality Talent:
Job Seekers Are Mobile so You Should Be Too Almost 50% of job seeker traffic originates from a mobile device In the past 12 months Simply Hired had over 5 million mobile app sessions Only 36% of companies currently have a mobile-friendly job search experience* We’ve seen job search from a mobile device climbing exponentially over the past several years. At Simply Hired, in the past 12 months, we’ve had over 44M visits to simplyhired.com from mobile devices and almost 50% of our total traffic came from a mobile device in 2015. Theress a huge disconnect here though because only 36% of companies currently have a mobile-enabled job search experience. If you don’t have a mobile experience those jobs seekers come to your site to apply and hit a brick wall. It’s bad for your application rates and not great for your brand. The good news is that companies don’t necessarily need to build out an end-to-end mobile recruiting experience. By enabling mobile sponsorship on Simply Hired, you can use our technology to provide mobile-friendly job listings. And with a large majority of job seekers who don’t use other job search sites, you’ll reach a distinct and targeted pool of candidates. * Smashfly Recruitment Marketing Report Card 2015

How to Reach High Quality Talent:
Bring Your Jobs to the Top of the List By sponsoring your jobs on Simply Hired, your listings will be at the top of search results, ahead of the organic listings Focused Job Seekers are much more likely to click on jobs that show up early on results pages On page 1, 94% of job seekers were focused on a specific job vs. only 80% on page 4 were targeted searches Organic job posting Sponsored job Simply Hired advertisers receive almost 4x as many impressions as they did organically Something we hear form time to time is that you don’t need to sponsor because your jobs are on Simply Hired for free already. Yes, Simply Hired aggregates jobs from all over the web, but what we’ve found is that after the first few pages of search results, job seeker views drop to nearly zero. This is typical of any search engine. Think about when you run a search on Google. Usually if what you’re looking for isn’t one of the first few results, you run a new search. We’ve also noticed something else about our job seekers. On page 1 of search results, we’ve found that nearly all of the job seekers were focused on finding a specific job. But by page 4 of search results, only 80% of the clicks were from targeted searchers. If your job is listed 10 pages back, the most focused candidates won’t even see it. That’s why sponsoring your jobs is so critical. Here at Simply Hired, we show all relevant sponsored content before we show any free, organic listings. By sponsoring your jobs on Simply Hired, your listings will be at the top of the search results and top of mind for the job seeker, ahead of the organic results.
