2. Transcripts —an official record of your high school academic career.
Use your transcript to complete your check sheet. You received a transcript last week in homeroom. Be sure that you have completed all requirements for graduation. Be sure that you account for all credits. You can request up to 5 transcripts from the counseling office with no charge. After 5, they are $2.00 a piece. You will need transcripts for scholarship applications, college applications, military acceptance, jobs, etc.
Two ways to request transcripts—
Through GAfutures.org (unlimited and free)
Request one from Mrs. Justice in the counseling office—transcript will be ready on the Friday after you request it.

Here you will search for colleges, apply to GA schools, learn about how to pay for college, and send transcript requests.

4. What will I need to complete my college applications?
Unofficial high school transcript
SAT and/or ACT scores (have them sent directly to the college from
either College Board or from ACT)
Colleges possibly could also want the following:
Essay (generally 500 words or less) on an influential experience or
autobiographic topic—look at the application requirements!!!
Recommendation letters
Teachers , High school counselor, Community leaders, Business and/or professional people
List of work experiences
List of references who can comment on your skills
List of volunteer and/or community activities
List of positions held in high school that show leadership
Copies of documents to verify your accomplishments
An audition tape or sample if applying for art, design, or music
Tip – Use your recommendation letters to round out your admission application;
rather than just a source for reporting redundant information.  If at all possible,
have each recommendation letter include information about you as a person that will
not be found anywhere else in your application packet.

5. SAT/ACT/College Application Fee Waivers
Are You Eligible?
SAT and ACT fee waivers are available to low-income 11th and 12th grade students. SAT Subject Test fee waivers are available for students in grades nine through 12.
You’re eligible for fee waivers if you say “yes” to any of these items:
Your annual family income falls within the Income Eligibility Guidelines set by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service.
You’re enrolled in a federal, state, or local program that aids students from low-income families (e.g., Federal TRIO programs such as Upward Bound).
Your family receives public assistance.
You live in federally subsidized public housing or a foster home, or are homeless.
You are a ward of the state or an orphan.
You must bring in documentation to our office in order to receive a fee waiver. You can get two ACT waivers and two SAT fee waivers before you graduate. If you are applying to college, some schools will waive the application fee. You must check with their office first to make sure that this is an option. The SAT fee waiver also includes 4 application fee waivers. They are built into your sat. org account and they are available after you take the test. You will have to print off a form and mail it to the school. We also have the NACAC application fee waiver in our office. Please allow two days upon request to receive this form. You also must send this form to the admissions office.

6. College Visitation Days
Visit the colleges you plan on applying to so you can see what you think of the campus before you apply. Most colleges do have video tours on their web pages. Call the admission office to schedule a tour during the week if you can’t make the open house. If you make a college visit during the week come by the counseling office to pick up a college visitation form to be signed by your teachers, counselor, and Mrs. Collingsworth. Take this form with you to your visit and have the admissions office sign it and it will count as an excused absence. You are allowed up to 3 college visitation days during your senior year if you follow this procedure.

7. HOPE Requirements
For the Class of 2018 to be eligible for HOPE ---YOU must….
Earn a 3.0 GPA in your core academic classes
English
Math
Science
Social Studies
Foreign Language
AND
Earn at least 4 credits in certain course credits (Rigorous academic classes).
*Zell Miller Scholarship: 3.7 academic GPA and a 1200 SAT or 26 Composite ACT (in one test administration)

Fill out a Brag Sheet that we have in the counseling office.
Give the person you are asking a recommendation from at least a two week turn around time.
Don’t wait until the last minute to fill out the applications for anything—you will always find you need something else.

Bring a printout of your college acceptance to the counseling office and we will post your name outside our office.
Bring us a copy of the paperwork and we will post your name outside our office.

11. Senior Individual meetings
Come by the counseling office to sign up for an individual meeting with your counselor.
Every senior will meet with their counselor by the end of the semester.
We will review your transcript with you, discuss graduation requirements, and talk about how to help you achieve your long term goals.
