Identify story elements, including genre, point of view, and theme Follow the directions below to complete the activity. You and your partner will discuss the short story “Duffy’s Jacket” by Bruce Coville in your literature book. Discuss the elements of the story, especially genre, point of view, and theme. Open the Corkulous App and make a corkboard displaying the genre, point of view, and theme of the story. This task uses: Corkulous Common Core/NG Standard(s): RL Determine a theme or central idea of a text and analyze its development over the course of the text RL.7.6 – Analyze how an author develops and contrasts points of view of different characters or narrators in a text. RL Comprehend many genres of literature at my grade level TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ School: LeBlanc Middle School Grade Level/Subject: 7th Grade English Task Card Level: Level 1 -- Identify Special Directions/Considerations: none Activity Evaluation: Students will save their corkboards to the camera roll on the iPad. Informal assessment, but needs to include genre, point of view, and theme. Complete or incomplete Prerequisites for students: The class has previously read the story together.
