Mood Disorders Mood disorders, also known as affective disorders, involve persistent feelings of sadness or periods of feeling overly happy, or fluctuations from acute happiness to intense sadness. The most common mood disorders are depression.mood disorders

Psychotic Disorders Psychotic disorders involve distorted awareness and thinking. Symptoms 1.hallucinations— the experience of images or sounds that are not real, such as hearing voices; and 2.delusions—false beliefs that the ill person accepts as true, despite evidence to the contrary Example: Schizophrenia is an example of a psychotic disorder.

Impulse Control & Addiction Disorders Impulse control disorders are not able to oppose urges, or impulses, to perform acts that could be harmful to themselves or others. Types: 1.Pyromania (starting fires) 2.kleptomania (stealing) 3.compulsive gambling Common Objects of Addiction Alcohol Drugs

Personality Disorders Personality disorders have extreme and inflexible personality traits that are distressing to the person and/or cause problems in work, school or social relationships. In addition, the person’s patterns of thinking and behavior significantly hamper the persons’ ability to function effectively without them having no clue about their behavior.
