Leonardo da Vinci Biography
Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 in Vinci, Italy. Da Vinci became a master artist in the Guild of St Luke. Da Vinci moved to Milan where he searched for patrons to commission his work. Da Vinci fled for Venice after the second Italian War. After moving between in Florence and Milan for 10 years, Da Vinci moved to Rome, working with Pope Leo X. Da Vinci lived the rest of his days in France and died on May 2, 1519.

The Italian Renaissance
The Renaissance was a period of “rebirth” after the Middle Ages. Inspiration from Roman and Greek Culture started the idea of Humanism. The Renaissance originated in Italy, and slowly expanded throughout Europe. Leonardo da Vinci was apart of the Italian Renaissance, which is considered to be the heart of the Renaissance period.
