1 One way living things are classified
The 6 Kingdoms One way living things are classified

2 Archaebacteria Ancient Single celled
Autotrophic (make their own food) or heterotrophic (don’t make their own food) Don’t have a nucleus Live in extreme environments Microscopic Reproduction: Asexual by splitting in 2 Sexual by conjugation

3 Eubacteria Unicellular No nucleus Autotrophic or heterotrophic
Do not live in extreme environments Microscopic Reproduction: Asexual by splitting in 2 Sexual by sharing DNA

4 Protists Odds and ends kingdom Autotrophs and heterotrophs
Some are unicellular Others are multicellular (many cells) Cells are nearly the same Have a nucleus Many are microscopic Examples: amoeba, paramecium, some seaweeds Reproduce both sexually by sharing DNA and asexually (splitting in 2)

5 Fungi Most are multicellular (except yeast) Eukaryotes (nucleus)
Heterotrophs Decomposers Examples: mushrooms, mold, yeast Reproduce asexually by producing spores (or budding) and sexually by sharing DNA and then producing spores

6 Plants Multicellular Eukaryotes Autotrophs
Examples: trees, flowers, moss, etc. Sexual reproduction by producing sex cells Asexual reproduction – new, identical plants form on parent plant

7 Animals Multicellular Eukaryotes Heterotrophs
Examples: people, cats, dogs, fleas, fish, birds, snakes, mosquitoes, etc. Most reproduce sexually; some reproduce asexually by budding
