How much does Upgrade Readiness cost?
The service is free, and data ingestion/storage/processing does not count toward your Azure subscription or OMS limits. You can even use a “Free” tier OMS account with a pay-as-you-go Azure subscription!
Doesn’t the Free tier of OMS have a 7 day retention period? Will I lose my UR data after 7 days?
Upgrade Readiness uses a “snapshot” model where we push a full set of data to your workspace every day. This ensures that you don’t have to worry about OMS’ 7-day retention period. The UR solution has a 30-day retention period.
Do I have to install an Upgrade Readiness agent on my machines?
No – the inventory collector is an in-box OS component. You will need to make sure that you have the latest compatibility update KB for your operating system, and you’ll need to ensure your clients can communicate with Microsoft’s endpoints.
How much data is uploaded off of my machines?
When you run the Upgrade Readiness deployment script, about 2-4MB of data is uploaded per machine. Every night thereafter, delta scans may upload very small amounts of data to keep your device inventory current.
What are the telemetry requirements for using Upgrade Readiness?
In order to use Upgrade Analytics, your Windows 10 machines will need to have a telemetry level of ‘Basic’ or higher.
