3 End of Course Assessments
Must pass ECA in Algebra 1 & English 10 ECA’s taken upon completion of course Class of 2018

4 ISTEP Graduation Exam ISTEP+ 10 is the Graduation Exam for the class of 2019 and beyond Content areas Algebra English Science

5 Graduation Requirements
English 8 credits – including senior composition Math 6 credits – including Alg ½, Geom ½ Science 6 credits – biological and physical sciences Social Studies 6 credits – W. Hist or Geog&Hist of the World US. Hist, Govt, Econ Speech 1 credit Health 1 credit Technology 1 credit – proficiency test or specified courses PE 2 credits Electives 16 credits TOTAL 47 credits

6 Core 40-College Prep Diploma
English 8 credits Math 6 credits Algebra ½, Geometry ½ Algebra 3/4 Science 6 credits Biology Chemistry OR Physics OR ICP Earth/Space, Zoology or any advanced science

7 Core 40-Academic Honors Math 8 credits W0rld Language 6 to 8 credits
Must go beyond Algebra 3/4 W0rld Language 6 to 8 credits 3 years of one language or 2 years each of 2 languages Fine Arts 2 credits Performing Arts or Visual Arts 49 credits total 3.0 GPA, no grade lower than C- External Requirement (AP/ACP/Test scores)

8 Core 40-Technical Honors
English 8 credits Math 6 credits Algebra ½, Geometry ½ Algebra 3/4 Science 6 credits Biology Chemistry OR Physics OR ICP Earth/Space, Zoology or any advanced science Career course sequence 6-10 credits 3.0 GPA, no grade lower than C- External Requirement

9 North Central Honors Meet all requirements for Academic Honors Diploma
20 credits in specified honors classes You choose the 20 3.0 GPA, no grade lower than a C- D’s can be made up with extra courses

10 Apply at the end of Sophomore year
IB-Diploma Program Rigorous 2 year program Apply at the end of Sophomore year See your counselor or Mr. Gulde for more information

11 Criteria for a Weighted Class
Meet 2 out of 3 requirements of move from a CP Class to an X/AP class 1 Teacher Recommendation 2 A or B on Semester grade 3 A or B on final exam No grade lower than C- to stay in an X/AP class

12 Special Applications JELCC Publications Early Release (2.5 GPA) Experiences in Teaching All must be signed by parent

13 Watch for Prerequisites
Photo – must do Intro to Art first 2 Semesters of PE before Weights Speech before Theatre Arts

14 Science Chemistry and Physics require Algebra ¾
A/B student in Math can take Alg ¾ concurrently C/D student should take Alg ¾ BEFORE Chemistry or Physics Integrated Chem/Phys can be prep course for Chemistry or Physics

15 Electives Choose wisely – you WILL take the course next year
Explore a variety or focus on a career or major Fill in Alternative line on Course Selection Sheet in case of a conflict If you do not fill in this line, you will be put into what is open

16 Summer School Fill in on bottom of Course Selection Sheet
Register in April Finish a math sequence Catch up or get ahead ECA/ISTEP remediation—English and Math classes count

17 Resume Building Take the most rigorous curriculum you can handle successfully Don’t lighten up senior year-4 academic classes Volunteer work Leadership opportunities Quality not quantity

18 Important Information
Must take 6 credit classes Only 1 study hall or student helper period per semester 4 or 5 academic classes each year CSS must be signed by parent CSS is due February 3 in period 3 If completed before, turn in to Guidance All special applications also due February 3

19 Plan Carefully Use the Course Catalog Talk to teachers Ask questions Discuss with family You choose your courses or someone else will Make choices for the ENTIRE YEAR that means no semester changes

20 Once the CSS is turned in…
Wait patiently Counselors will see you individually Rising seniors will be first

21 Grade 9 and 10 College, Career and Curriculum Night
Tuesday, January 7:00 pm in the auditorium Mrs. Bremen (Coordinator for College Counseling) will speak PSAT, Post-Secondary options,Curriculum choices For parents and students

22 Grade 11 College Information Night
Tuesday, March 7:00 pm in the auditorium Admissions representatives from various universities will be available to answer questions Parents and Juniors The College Book will be handed out

23 21st Century Scholars New requirements Must sign on to Scholar Track
Must earn a Core 40 Diploma Must have a 2.5 GPA Items to complete each year

24 Final Thoughts… Work hard Challenge yourself Finish strong
