EVOLVING TO WOMEN UNITED
Who here knows what the NWLC – National Women’s Leadership Council is? Share about the NWLC – charged with growing the WLC’s Reached first Billion in 2013 with 55,000 members, currently have 70,000 members (2015) Goal to make next Billion by 2020 and 100,000 members NWLC Guidelines - SHIFT FROM WLC TO WOMEN UNITED

EVOLVING TO WOMEN UNITED
United Way is seizing the moment to change by: Repositioning the WLC as Women United to attract those uninspired by the corporate, process-oriented imagery of “councils.” Creating a bold new voice to tell United Way’s story by creating a network-wide strategy to entice new and existing members. Empowering the network to reposition locally by giving them the tools, resources and support to make the shift. We had 145 WLCs and 55,000 in 2013 when we announced we hit our first $billion - now we have 170 WLCs and closer to 70,000 women our goal is to increase our membership to 100,000 and raise our second $billion by 2020 how are we going to do that?? By sharing best practices and continuing to engage and reengage women everywhere! One of the ways to do that is by rebranding ourselves to Women United Wanted to maximize our impact which led us to working closely with United Way Worldwide to explore the best way to reach these bold goals. It became apparent that we needed to reposition the WLC and redefine its mission. Through conversations with local groups across the country… There are some other United Way’s that have already done this Minneapolis Denver Orange County – in process of changing

CONSUMER SENTIMENT ABOUT EVOLUTION TO “WOMEN UNITED”
OVERALL POSITIVE REACTION TO “WOMEN UNITED” Women indicated that Women United.. Alludes to being an integral part of the United Way organization Implies women working together to achieve something Describes women as a united front Sounds like people are acting to achieve goals Lends a strong visual of women working together In 2014, United Way Worldwide worked with iModerate to produce a qualitative study to understand women’s opinions of the Women’s Leadership Council and how United Way should be speaking to women about this program to inspire them to become engaged. UWW just sent out a survey to all UWs with two separate surveys - one for staff and one for donors/volunteers - this is one of the ways we can really understand how we are doing, how we can change for the better etc - if you are staff and you don’t think you got this survey or if you have any questions about this, please check with me or Meghan Vu after this discussion - if you are a volunteer, please be sure to take the time to complete the survey when you receive it. INDIVIDUAL ENGAGEMENT WORKS
Women Leaders Cumulative % Growth in Donors Young Leaders All Affinity Groups We’ve all heard/read reports that state women are more giving than men. In May of 2015 the Indiana University School of Philanthropy published a new report on how and why women give. Single women are more likely than single men to give and are also more likely to give more dollars. That is true for divorced/separated, never married and widowed women as well. As women’s income rises, they become even more likely to give than their male counterparts. This slide seems to confirm those findings. Remember, in the years since WLCs were first founded in 2001, collectively we have donated over one BILLLION dollars to United Way. We have the attention of Worldwide! WOMEN OF TOCQUEVILLE Of the United Ways that have reported Women of Tocqueville, anywhere from 20% to 36% of their overall members are women. There are 18,000 Tocqueville Women. The opportunity to grow this group is huge. Perhaps this is where we can talk about our local UW - We have right at 100 WPF members though we do know we have other women who give at the Tocqueville level but choose not to be recognized as WPF members. (can I say that?) Since we began in 2001 we have cumulatively raised $34million. In addition to that, we have raised $4.5million at our annual Breakfast. We have a sister group giving at the $1000+ level with another 300 members.

SUCCESSES 100 members contributed more than $1.3M in 2014/15
Women’s Philanthropy Fund members have contributed over $34M since 2001! The Women’s Philanthropy Fund Breakfast has raised over $4.5M since 2003! We currently have about 100 members, that contributed over $1.3 million last year. And an additional 300 Women United members.
