The Natural Resources Management Programmes aim to address the threats to the productive use of land and water, and the functioning of natural systems by invasive alien species, wild fires and land degradation, as well as the opportunities for value added industries (including fibre and furniture production), whilst ensuring meaningful livelihood opportunities are supported for those employed in doing this work. Integrated approach- working together.. 4 Hectares Invaded = 20 million Condensed Hectares = 1.9 million
Currently WfW has only treated around 3 million of the 20 million hectares affected by IAP’s. A significant increase in budget (and improving efficiency) is needed to address problem effectively.

6 Need for growth to deal with NRM interventions effectively
2014/5 2014/5  2014/15 2017 2017  2025 2025  Number of FTEs Total budget spent IAP hectares treated Total budget requirement  FTE= Full-Time Equivalent Job # R'mill Hectares Working for Water 14 238 1,218 42,979 5,438 111,632 24,010 Working on Fire 6 414 553 7,042 758 1,299 Total Need to grow NRM budget 2 fold over next three years and twelve times its current size by 2025 to deal with NRM challenges effectively. Part of this growth needs to include improving internal efficiencies and increasing private sector investment in NRM activities, on top of improving our ability to link the economic impacts of undertaking NRM interventions, to drive resource allocation going forward.
