Key Beliefs 3 - Akirah

What do you know? Akirah/life after death Challenge:
Work in pairs/threes to mind-map/model-map what you know about life after death in Islam. You have four minutes to write down anything and everything you know about judgement/the afterlife. Akirah/life after death Challenge: Where does this information come from? How do you know this?

YOLT What is the video trying to show – what is the message?

Akirah This life is a test for what is to come, we will be judged based on our actions The whole point of this life is to follow the will of Allah and try to be a good vice-regent for Him. This involves following the guidance found in the Qur’an, the Hadith (sayings of the Prophet Muhammad) and the Sunnah (example of the Prophet Muhammad).

Akirah Different traditions have different ideas about exactly how the process will work. Once a person dies, they will not go straight to Heaven or Hell to live their afterlife (there are some exceptions to this). In the time between death and the Last Day, most Muslims believe the soul is in an in-between known as Barzakh – although there are different ideas about what exactly will happen. Watton page 24
