How aware and proactive are parents about the cyber world?

Talk, Listen, and Show Talk: Ask your children to explain what they are doing online. Tell them that you want to keep them safe, not necessarily take away the Internet/tools. Listen: Listen to what your children have to say. Ask yourself (and your children) why the Internet/tool is important. Show: Have your children show you what they are doing online. Sit and watch.
