Tsunami Recovery Plan By Jeremy Phan
2
Disaster Analysis The 2004 Tsunami was caused by a 9.0 earthquake which crushed and destroyed everything along the coast of South Asia. The tsunami killed more than 200,000 people. A lot of the infrastructure is damaged or ruined. Towns and cities are submerged and destroyed by the tsunami.
3
Disaster Relief The tsunami affected the people by killing a fraction of the population, destroying infrastructure and the environment, destroying a lot of homes and property, crippling the economy, and raising a lot of health concerns in a short amount of time.
4
Solution #1 Dispatching teams of relief workers- Relief workers would be dispatched with supplies and help clear up the destruction caused by the tsunami. By dispatching relief workers, leaders would be appointed in areas of the destroyed cities and thus organizing the Recovery Plan and making it run more efficiently.
5
Solution #2 Setting up tsunami warning systems- Setting up a system to warn the coastal populations of a tsunami is very important because there would be a lot less casualties and deaths from the tsunamis in the future.
6
Solution #3 Setting up communication posts- Setting up posts to communicate from the destroyed areas to relief organizations would allow the relief organizers to know what is needed in certain areas and the progress of the reconstruction.
7
Solution #4 Testing of water samples and vaccinating against diseases- Testing water samples would allow officials know what diseases may be in it and if it’s safe. Vaccinating against the diseases helps stop the spread of the disease and saves lives of people.
