The Simonsig history dates back to the late 1600 when the farm was developed by Huguenot settlers. The farm changed hands several times but since 1947 came into the hands of the Van Niekerk and then Malan family. Wine of Origin S T E L L E N B O S C H

In 1968 Frans Malan bottled his first wines and sold most of production is the local market. His vision and ideas on winemaking and marketing spurred the estate wine concept in South Africa and gave birth to the Stellenbosch Wine Route. Today the 3 Malan brothers Pieter, Francois and Johan own and manage the 210 hectares of vineyards. Simonsig employ 140 permanent workers and provide housing and other facilities such as social support service, day care center and sport facilities. Wine of Origin S T E L L E N B O S C H
