2 What the charity is? The charity we have chosen is called Crisis for single homeless people. Crisis say that their aims are to ‘want to do more for homeless people across the UK and change their lives for good’ and ‘change the way society thinks and acts towards homeless people’ /11/15 They provide a website which gives information to those who would like to help that includes a report of how much they have changed, how and where to contact them and job vacancies. Crisis have a ‘five year strategy’ which gives them goals to reach such as finding solutions, reasoning's and others that they do to help prevent homelessness /11/15 B6DA527EDE6F95CEAC194A1DC3F9E1D29&selectedIndex=0 &ccid=2Od0bzo7&simid= &thid=OIP.Md8e7746f3a 3bb94bcfdcdaab61ef2e34o0&ajaxhist=0

3 Volunteers at crisis locations
Volunteers help to serve food to the people in a sheltered hall /11/15 Also, workshops can be set up for the homeless for them to participate in, involving educational, gardening and other skills that will help them to better themselves. It allows them to interact with others, find a passion and build their self esteem. Another way that volunteers aid the charity is by working in a Crisis charity shop. /11/15

4 Fundraising for Crisis
The public tend to be more charitable at Christmas time so Crisis have used that to their advantage by giving the idea of having a Christmas party and donating the money that is made from it to their charity. For the rest of the year they suggest other ways to fundraise, for example, registering to run for Crisis in the Royal Parks Half Marathon. On their website they inform the audience of how much to donate and what that donation does. 25/11/15 Provides a warm welcome and helps someone take the first steps out of homelessness

On their website they have used much more personal stories of people who have suffered from being homeless so that the audience feels more attached to the victims. However, the way that Crisis promote their charity is more effective as it is positive and shows what the money that is donated is doing to help. In my opinion, Crisis has a much better website because it provides you with more information about what the charity is and its aims whereas Centrepoint just have one page. As well as that, Crisis focus on a diverse group of people but Centrepoint are just for young homeless people.

6 Comparable charities Justlife is a charity for homeless too and for those people who are stuck permanently in B&Bs. They focus on a large group of people, similarly to Crisis. Although, unlike Crisis, they provide a page about those who help them which includes Crisis, Manchester City Council and a few others that are known by the public. These are the logos of the companies who help Justlife, it helps to bring in more donations because those who trust those and like using them companies will feel more comfortable donating to Justlife.

7 Crisis’ target audience
From the crisis website it seems like the charity targets wealthy people because of the locations that the charity is set up. These are places such as London, Birmingham and Oxford which are known to be well-off areas and this suggests that people who come from money or have an occupation that pays well e.g. doctors would reside. Therefore this would help the charity as they have more disposable income and can afford to give around the holiday times such as Christmas. Also as the locations are all in cities its targeting city people and tourists that visit the city because they are the audiences that see homeless people all the time around the city so they will feel more sympathy/empathy towards them and want to donate. The adverts of the charity show older people instead of children which suggests that the charity aims to target older people. This could be because they are most likely to help out in the way the charity has suggested on the website such as rent a home for homeless people and host a party to raise money for homeless people etc. &tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjf8_aotavJAhVB1RoKHcPfCbsQ_AUIBigB#safe=strict&t bm=isch&q=audience+silhouette&imgrc=Oxw8k4uX4kpvUM%3A

8 Advert style For our project we decided we wanted the style of the video to be sad but simple. We wanted the music to be sad but Christmas-y to kind of appeal to the audience’s emotional and sympathetic side and therefore make them want to donate and also we wanted it to be simple so the audience will just focus on the music and pictures/videos being shown. We want the music to be Christmassy but sad because we want the music to remind the audience what time of the year it is but also the sad element to show the audience how little the homeless people have and how they don’t have Christmas to look forward too because they can’t celebrate like everyone else. Also there may be little or no narration because if the advert doesn’t have any talking and it just has the video and music it attracts the audience and also the audience will soak up the meaning of the advert better.

9 Advert style This is similar to the style of the actual crisis adverts because they have text in the advert to show what’s going on and to tell facts about how Crisis has helped. Also there adverts have older people in them whereas our advert will feature teenagers because we want it to be more relatable to younger people because they have disposable income to and can also persuade parents to help as well. Also because we want the audience to understand that homelessness affects many different ages’ not just adults. The Crisis adverts has people talking in the advert whereas our advert won’t have as much talking if any. bih=652&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjf8_aotavJA hVB1RoKHcPfCbsQ_AUIBigB#safe=strict&tbm=isch&q=cut+film&i mgrc=8RKdvvtpJlawkM%3A

10 Primary research Myself and Miah sent an to the press team at Crisis to ask if they would like to see our finished work and they replied to tell us to send them it but cannot guarantee they will reply.

11 PRIMARY RESEARCH

12 We went to the The Beaney House Of Art & Knowledge and looked at the exhibition they had showcasing for the crisis charity. Homeless people had created pieces of art to show what its like to be without a home. We took pictures as it supported the project we are making especially since it is from the same charity we are making an advert for.
