High Engagement Strategies in the Classroom
Why should I try new strategies? My student evals are good and students are learning. BUT… Today’s learner expects to participate. When the instructor is excited, the students are excited!

Structured Note Taking
Why Structured Note Taking? Have all students been taught how to take notes in class? When reading? Notes can be taken by hand, Kindle Fire, laptop. Cornell Notes Take Notes. Make Notes. Review Notes. Students can adapt their own system. Used at all levels of education.

“Write The Test” Break into small groups. Students review notes.
Create a test that includes short answer, multiple choice, fill in the blank. Answer key Don’t tell students what you are doing with the test. Give it to other groups if you like, use it in your final, etc.
